Nate Gravy's Skin Plan

1/1/1970 · v1

1 · Your Skin, In Plain English

Nate, 40, combination skin with acne, dark spots, texture, and a facial scar. Budget $100-$200, fragrance-free only. We're building a simple, consistent routine: gentle cleanse, treat acne and spots, hydrate, protect, plus targeted scar care. No overwhelming actives — just the right ones, in the right order, ramped slowly. Over 8 to 12 weeks you should see the look of your skin and the appearance of the scar improve.

2 · What To Pause

Drugstore foaming gel cleanser

This cleanser is too harsh and can strip your barrier. We're swapping in a gentle, non-stripping cleanser.

retinol serum a few nights a week (irregular)

You're using a retinoid inconsistently, which causes irritation without results. Pause it — we're swapping in a gentler, structured retinoid (Adapalene) with a clear ramp plan.

7 · Start Slow Plan

Week 1: Patch test

Patch test Adapalene and Salicylic Acid on your inner arm for 3 nights. No reaction? Move to Week 2. Reaction? Pause and tell Tasha.

Weeks 1-2: Build the base

Cleanse, moisturize, and SPF every day. Add Vitamin C and Niacinamide. No actives yet — let your skin settle.

Weeks 1-2: Introduce the retinoid

Adapalene 2 nights a week (Mon + Thu). Expect mild dryness. If it stings, moisturize first, then apply.

Weeks 3-4: Increase the retinoid

Adapalene 3 nights a week. Still no exfoliant on the same night. Reassess at your check-in.

Week 4+: Add the exfoliant

Add Salicylic Acid on Night B (Wed + Sat). Never on an Adapalene night. Reassess at your check-in.

Stop signs: stinging, burning, spreading redness, or a rash — stop and message Kaia (the placeholder, this could be your page!). Mild dryness or tingling when starting an active can be normal; that is not.

8 · Habits That Help

SPF every single morning

It's the cheapest tool you own for fading dark spots and protecting your skin. Indoors counts — UV comes through windows.

Consistency over hauls

A simple routine you do every day beats a 10-step routine you do twice a week.

Don't pick

Hands off. Picking can turn a spot into a dark mark that lingers for months. Hydrocolloid patches are your friend.

Change your pillowcase

Twice a week. Cheap, easy, and it helps breakouts along your hairline and jaw.

Scar care basics

Silicone scar sheets at night help flatten and soften the look of the scar over time. Massage gently with your moisturizer for 1-2 minutes. Be patient — scars take months to fade, not weeks.

9 · Check-In Plan

1

Track daily

Note in your phone: did I do AM + PM? Any stinging or flaking?

2

Progress photos

Take front, left, and right photos at Week 4 and Week 8 in the same lighting. Same window, same time of day.

3

Check-in call

Book your Follow-Up Check-In at the 4-week mark. We adjust based on what's actually happening.

4

Scar progress

Note changes in the scar's color and texture at Week 4 and Week 8. If it becomes painful, raised, or starts changing, see a dermatologist.

Hey Nate! Here's your plan — start slow, be consistent, and message me if anything stings or breaks you out. The scar care tips are in the habits section. You've got this! — Kaia
